Indulge Me!

Ok, blogging friends, indulge me for several reasons. I spent a ton of time trying to figure out how to post this video of my precious grandchild to this blog. Well, it really is easy but I must have been in a "duh" frame of mind. The first frame of the video looks out of proportion but it does get better, that is, until Jakob put his finger up to the camera. It may take a minute or so to load. More on knitting after the video.

I must say that this video really touched my heart. It made my day!

I had to frog back about 5 rows on the sock I am working on. I knitted for awhile today, parked in my car while enjoying a beverage. The sunshine was wonderful.

I went to an indoor farmer's market for the first time. I had not gone before because parking was an issue. Now, I understand why. It was fantastic. There were many, many vendors, crafts, etc. with live entertainment on the stage.

Eggs were selling for $5/doz. (ouch!)

A well-known Vermont handspinner was there selling her hats for $65. They were knit on about Size 13 needles. Am I the only one who thinks that is a little pricey? I looked at her yarn and it was beautiful. I wished I remembered the fiber content. Perhaps it was merino. I almost choked at the price. It was selling for 90 cents per yard. A skein was $94. I felt like Rip Van Winkle and perhaps had slept for 100 years and just waking up to these prices. The lambskins were a "hot" (no pun intended) item.

A simple baby bib sewn from cotton was selling for $12. I remember making mine from fingertip towels and adding ties to them for my girls.

Happy Knitting!

  2. Jakob is adorable! Sweet little voice, melts your heart don't it? The prices at your market seemed a little high to me. You should come to our fiber fest in Ohio. Things are much more affordable.

Those prices are unreal! I wonder how high the rent is for stalls in there? I'm guessing it must be pretty high.

Those are some wild prices at your local farmer's market. Oh I hope the big one in Buffalo isn't that bad....

  6. What a sweetie! Thanks for sharing that.

And I agree, those prices were really out of line, especially in today's economy. I wonder if she sold much. Seems like this well-known spinner has a bit more ego than is healthy! LOL

Eggs...$5/doz.? They were golden eggs from the golden goose, right? LOL!

I hope that you are having better success with your sock, the frog pond is really cold. I should know. LOL!

  10. Ouch! We're only asking $2.00 per dozen for our eggs. Obviously we're too far out in the boonies...
And those yarn prices were scary. $1 a yard? A sweater would cost more than my first car.
