Girly Baby Afghan

I started this baby afghan about a month ago and only knit on it when I don't feel like knitting something a little more complicated. The pattern is from a very old book and is a take-off on the feather and fan. It seems like it is taking forever. This item will go into my gift storage cedar chest. I know no one expecting a baby girl. It matches the Helena baby sweater I posted a short time ago.

I have too many knitting projects I want to start. Oh, wouldn't this be nice for my youngest grandchild next winter. Or, wouldn't my two older grandsons look handsome in this!!!

Lizzie encouraged me to join, as her support buddy, the weight management program called "Live Strong". I have the desire to lose weight but not the discipline. Now, you are looking at the girl who when she drives up to order at Dunking Donuts, they recognize my voice and call me "Hun" and comment if I deviate from my usual order. Wish me luck.

  1. I think the afghan is lovely! I'm also trying to loose weight. It's very hard to stick to it when all the grand kids are here and they want cake or cookies, or pie or everything that's good in the world, but bad for loosing weight!!

  2. I'm LOL at the donut place recognizing your voice! ;-Þ

The baby blanket is lovely. I wish I had the patience for knitting things like that, but I just don't. I have crocheted baby blankets before, and have knit a few preemie blankets for charity, but that's about the extent of my blanket knitting patience. ;-)

  3. Beautiful afghan! And good luck with LiveStrong. Lizzie mentioned it to me, too. I should look around there again, because I'm in the same boat.

  6. I love the baby blanket & I love the color! I need to lose weight, too, but it's so hard. I live w/junk-food junkies! My youngest DD & I are the only ones that eat fresh fruit & veggies.

  7. Your right Joansie, they do take up alot of time. I don't think I'll do another either. There's so many things I want to knit, that I hate spending so much time on this blanket!

  9. Oh Joansie you are too funny!! Before my old grocery store closed out in TN, I would always buy myself 2 krispy creme chocolate glazed donuts when I went grocery shopping on Saturday afternoon, yum, I waited until the late afternoon when they had them on sale :P. I haven't had one in over a year, hmmmm.

The baby blanket is beautiful, I too love the fan & feather and all it's wonderful variations. They have that wonderful lacey effect without all the counting that usually accompanies lace work, like the one I am working on now (a cheveron). sigh.
