Free Pattern: Fetching Mitts (<--click)
Yarn: Knitpicks Wool of The Andes (one 50 gr. ball)
Needles: Size 5 dps
It was so much fun to knit this pattern. So many people have and I can see why. Amy S. knitted hers a little longer and so did I by about 4 rows.

Knitting the thumb this way was a new method which I liked very much. Knit a row with waste yarn and then pick up the live stitches later.

My co-worker, Rebecca, ...oops, I should say former co-worker as she has departed for greener pastures this week, was the recipient of these mitts as a "going-away" present.
I didn't do the picot edge as she did not like that look.

I've completed several other projects, about four others, that I haven't had time to take pictures of and blog about but I will soon.

I started teaching my sock knitting class this week. I only have three students but that is fine with me as I can provide more "one-on one" attention. The class is being held in the comfy library at my local high school. There are four sessions of instructions and am hoping they can complete at least one sock. They are at various levels in their knitting career.

I did visit a new yarn shop last week about 30 miles from home. They recently moved to this new location so it is an "old" that has become "new". They have a bright, cheery location with a great selection of yarn and fantastic customer service added to the mix. The weather was beautiful the day I went so I strolled the "farmer's market" across the road. It was a very uplifting day!
I've had no time to spin but hope to carve out some time out of my busy weekend schedule to spin some of that roving I purchased recently.
Other than that, life has been pretty quiet.

Happy Knitting!

  1. Love the fingerless mitts. I just recently bought a new pattern to make some. I just havn't tried it out yet.
Wish I could come to your class. I need help. I do have a start to knit kit,and I tried......... What a mess that turned out to be. So I put it down for now and will pull it back out later to try again. :)

  2. Quiet is good- remember that? It's better than the insane run around I've been doing for weeks. Plus I have not one but 2 job interviews tomorrow and I need to finish getting the block parts done this weekend to get the quilt quilted by Wednesday. Shouldn't be a problem. Looking for a cute label to attach to the back.

  6. Oh, it must be fun to teach a class! And, I think that quiet is what many people are searching for.

  7. Those mitts look really nice. I will have to try them because I hate the way the thumb was done on the last pattern for fingerless mitts I did. I am thinking that is what everyone of my children will get this year for Christmas. They look nice and don't take a lot of money. I'm thinking of doing the ones that have a covering for the fingers for the guys, but then I would have to knit some of the fingers. Decisions, decisions, decisions.

  9. Such a nice blue, bet she was thrilled to receive them.

Fingerless mitts, something else I've had on my list of things to make (for myself) forever and a day. lol, seems I never get to that list.

Sure wish I was in your neck of the woods to join you in your sock class...another item on my list. Someday perhaps that list will come to the forefront. The size of the class sounds perfect to me, keep us posted how it goes.

    Have a fabulous week,
    Sandy
