It's Time......It's Time

Time to get up for work...............

plan my lunch...especially a snack.

and get dressed!!!!

and don't forget to button up!!!

Isn't this the cutest little project you've seen in awhile!!!!  This apple cozy puts a smile on my face.  I'm tired of fruit that gets bruised because it has had a free roller-coaster ride in the bottom of my traveling work bag.  So when I saw this "pattern" (<--click) on Ravelry, I knew I just had to crochet it.

I'm a knitter, not a crocheter, so with my laptop in front of me and logged into YouTube to figure out the few crochet stitches required, I was able to complete this apple cozy in a couple of hours.

Knit them in different colors for an apple, a peach, a plum.  Part of the fun is finding a whimsical button for your cozy.

I'm currently teaching a knitting class on Tuesday evenings.  There's a lot of chatter and laughter and when I get home I have difficulty unwinding and falling asleep.  Last Tuesday, it was 3:00 a.m. and I was still awake.  OMG, I have to be up at 6:00 a.m.  When I finally fell asleep and awoke again at the sound of the alarm, I bolted out of bed, grabbed the first clothing that didn't need ironing and dressed.  No time for a shower, shampoo, hair, make-up, etc.  I ran out the door to what appeared to be a grey and gloomy day.  The front porch light that is on a sensor was still on.  Hopped in my car, turned on the ignition, looked at the clock and realized I was A WHOLE HOUR early leaving for work.  Not sure what happened with my alarm clock but it sure played a joke on me that day.  I was a mess the rest of the day...totally exhausted and having difficulty functioning.

Today's favorite blog:  "The Rainey Sisters" .  I love her current project.

Happy Knitting!

Don't you just hate it when an alarm clock plays practical jokes...

  2. That is so cute! I'll admit, I never 'got' the point of making fruit cozy's, until you mentioned it protecting the apple from bruising. Duh. I never thought of that! ;-)

I couldn't help but laugh at your alarm clock mishap. giggle, giggle, snort, snort ;-Þ

  3. The button makes all the difference on that cozy!

Let me know how it works. I carry an apple and banana with me when I walk and both look like they've been through the war by the time I get to them!

  6. Oh Joansie what a night & morning for you!! I can't begin to count the amount of times that happens to me, it really takes a lot for me to wind down at night and lately my husband has been catching up on episodes of Lost and that is NOT a good winding down activity that's for sure! I also love that apple cozy =) so that helps the fruit from getting bruised?? I neeed some of those we always take apples out with us and bananas (do they make banana cozies?) but by the time we're gonna eat them their all bruised and not as fresh. Hope you catch up on your rest =)

  10. Hi, I stumbled across your blog, while looking for Christmas stockings...you made one for your daughter Amy, shown in your blog...the Santa one with her name...my mother in law made all her kids and gkids and some of the ggkids these and after she passed away, no more kids and new spouses have gotten them, despite the fact that a few family members knit...she had added an angora beard and top edge, and we all have names on them, but can not find this pattern anywhere....your's is the first one I came across...do you have this pattern and would you share it with us, so we can have stockings made for the remaining family members to surprise them this year? We would be so appreciative if you can help us. Thank you for any info you can share...my email is fcorgan@sbcglobal.net

She made 12 that first year she did them and added another 7-8 more after that year....she was loved and she is missed by many....thanks...
    Faith

  11. Just a note to anyone who may read the above comment. I do not violate copyright laws. I seem to get the same request for the same two patterns and wonder if checking copyright compliance.

  12. Your apple cozy is adorable. I have never made one of them. But now I think I need too. LOL! i have a large collection of buttons. I don't know why, but I like to collect them. I keep them in an old spg sauce jar. LOL! I would love to find an old Vintage Ball jar to keep them in though.
