Basketweave Dishcloth

Basketweave Dishcloth

I start teaching this year's "Beginner Knitting" classes on Thursday, January 28th and I am looking forward to promoting knitting to a group of new folks.  We'll be knitting this simple dishcloth.  I will also be teaching a mitten class starting the same week.  Busy, busy, busy....

I purchased "Piecework" magazine today which features a variety of crafts.  There's a beautiful "broomstick lace" bag that I must knit.  I have not done broomstick lace since Sept. of 1969.  Why do I remember the date so well, you ask?  It was the month when my car caught fire and I managed to save my project as I escaped.  Let's not forget that we had just made the last car payment on the car, purchased a house two weeks prior with no money for furniture and ................most important..........I was so very pregnant with my daughter's birth occurring 10 days later.  So, new car, new house, new baby all in one month.  When you are stupid, inexperienced, young, you can deal with those catastrophies.

My friend, Janice, came over for lunch and knitting today.  Not sure we got much knitting done as we were so busy chatting like high school girlfriends.  One thing for sure is that we had fun!!

Weather will be bad tomorrow.  You know what that means!!!!  Plenty of knitting time!

Happy Knitting!

  2. I love to knit dishcloths. They're just perfect for when i need to take a break from all my other projects. I need to go knit one as a gift. Someone baked us a batch of cookies so I wouldn't have to deal w/the oven & risk getting burned again. She presented them in a lovely basket that I'm sure that she would enjoy getting back, but I don't want to return it empty. I think that she'd enjoy dishcloths. The basket weave pattern is so great for beginners & not so beginners....it's also my mom's favorite.

  5. Ah, youth. I was very pregnant with my California baby when I realized this was the first pregnancy I didn't have to push my stuck car out of the snow by myself while quite pregnant.

  7. That is a really nice photo and the dishcloth is almost too pretty to use. I have only made a few in my time. I may start making sets of them to give away for the holidays !

  8. Glad you had such fun with your friend. WOW, that's lot's of news all at one time; with our current age makes us shake our heads; but as you say...youth a whole different perspective. lol

I can see you grabbing your project...silly women!

Love the purple. I'm often confused by the different basket weave patterns, but love them...love the texture. Are you starting with that in your beginners class? All that counting I would think frustrating for newbies.

Have a great wkend, stay warm, and happy knitting. (I've set my settings so folks don't email me through the blog, as I prefer blog comments)
