Dr. Weissgold Socks - Finished

A few posts back, I told you I knitted these socks and called them Dr. Weissgold because I started knitting them while waiting for my appointment for the eye issue I had. I return for my check-up on Tuesday and I'm hoping for the best.

The real name of this pattern is "Blueberry Waffle". If you want the free pattern, let me know and I'll send you the link.

If he Googles himself, won't he be surprised to see these socks pop up. Last time I tried it, I was the 3rd link...lol.
It was a great week to be on vacation. For the most part, the weather was absolutely wonderful. I spent a fair amount of time by the lake with my knitting. I started a new pair of socks from Cat Bordhi's book and am quite pleased with how they are coming out. If you are in the doldrums with your knitting, try one of her patterns. A little challenging but truly amazing how her mathematical mind works.

Someone is interested in having me teach sock knitting classes this fall. I have to come up with an hourly $$$ (including prep time). There will be 6-8 students, 2hrs. each class for 4 weeks. Not sure how much to charge as I don't want to not have enough folks interested because of the price. I have to come up with the details by the end of the week. Any suggestions?

On the spinning front....some days are good, others not so good. I'm still familiarizing myself with my new wheel :>)

Happy Knitting!

  1. Doc Weissgold's socks turned out beautifully! I'm sure he'll love them.

I'd find out what the LYS charges and go just a bit lower than that. And offer a discount if they pay it all up front rather than week by week. Fer instance: $100 for all the classes vs $25 per class. No refunds.

You could put together the whole kit for them or let them bring their own supplies. Be sure to charge for the kit to make a couple dollars from it for your time. Kit is paid for in advance. No refunds.

And I'd do a ww sock for the class. So much faster and easier than one on fingering weight yarn. Google Joan's Socks for an idea.

You'll have great fun doing this and who knows, maybe it'll become an additional source of income!

  2. Hey Joansie, your socks are gorgeous! I am really slacking with my knitting these days... I'm intimidated by these knee socks! I finally figured out I needed to increase by a lot more stitches than I'd thought, and I'm terrified I'm going to mess up. :o(

  8. Love the socks. Think the idea of ww socks is a good one. They can see results quickier and probably would be less discouraged? Man...wish I were in your neck of the woods, I'd love to do a sock class...your's are always yummy.

Good luck and have fun with your class.

  11. The socks are great!! As for what to charge for classes, I'll leave that to more experienced knitters. Whatever you decide, I'm sure it will be a lot of fun!

  13. They're beautiful!

I have a copy of my book that I haul around and ask my friends to sign for me, telling them I'm a backwards author. One of my doctors wrote, "All this time you've been sitting in my office waiting for me, you've been creating art!"
